Services > Remote Signalling

Our Specification are formulated using the Association of British Insurers Guidelines January 2002 for Intruder Alarm Systems that generate Confirmed Alarm conditions, and to comply with the requirements of the British Standard Code of Practice DD243:2004. (A copy of which can be supplied if requested). This standard also requests us to advise you to consult your insurer. DD243:2004 is a standard which is designed to address certain false alarm problems, e.g. Client error during setting and un-setting.

Sequential

Following receipt of a Primary alarm signal at the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) the designated Key holders will be notified. A Secondary (Confirmed) alarm signal, generated from a different detection circuit is then required. Provided the second (Confirmed) signal is received within a period of 30 minutes from the time of the first activation (the 'confirmation time'), a confirmed condition may be passed to the police. A Secondary (Confirmed) signal received outside of the 'Confirmation time' will be actioned as a Primary alarm signal resulting in Key holder notification only.

Conditions of Generation of a Secondary (confirmed) Signal:

  • If the detectors contribute to the confirmed alarm condition have overlapping fields, they must be of different technologies.
  • If overlapping detectors are movement detectors, then at least one must be a dual technology detector.
  • Movement detectors are required to be located some distance apart.
  • Certain combinations of detectors are prohibited from generating confirmed alarm conditions e.g. multiple vibration or break-glass detectors.

The installer is responsible for stating in the system design specification and the system record, where combinations of detectors do not give rise to a confirmed alarm condition.

Advantages

  • Avoids the need for a subjective decision by the ARC operator
  • Monitoring charges may be lower
  • Familiar hardware with predictable results
  • Perimeter protection is more clear cut
  • Can be used with any type of signalling

We, as a Company, do not recommend Audio/Visual Confirmation as they require a subjective judgement to be made by the Alarm Receiving Centre Operator. There is therefore a possibility that genuine alarm signals are cancelled in error.
